For this Kingston extension project, we demolished the existing old conservatory, cleared the area, and levelled the ground before installing new foundations. The new extension was built with Thermalite blocks, a 100mm insulated cavity, and a concrete block outer leaf, creating a strong structure with excellent thermal performance.
The roof was constructed using 8x2 C24 joists, filled with 100mm insulation, and finished with a durable GRP (fibreglass) roof. We added two 1000 x 1500mm triple-glazed skylights to bring in plenty of natural light, along with a large triple-glazed sliding door to open the space directly onto the garden.
The floor build-up included a compacted hardcore base, concrete layer, 100mm Celotex insulation, hydro underfloor heating, and a 75mm screed, finished with engineered wood flooring for a warm, high-end look. We also completed the electrics with new downlights, sockets, and an exterior light, and finished the outside with modern silicone render for a clean, weather-resistant finish.
We replaced an outdated conservatory with a modern, fully insulated rear extension, creating a brighter and more comfortable living space with skylights and a large triple-glazed sliding door opening onto the garden.
Hydro (wet) underfloor heating provides even, comfortable warmth across the whole room, removes the need for radiators, improves usable wall space, and can run efficiently at lower temperatures to help reduce heating costs.
We installed high-performance insulation throughout the walls, roof, and floor to keep the extension warm in winter, cooler in summer, and more energy-efficient—helping reduce heat loss, improve comfort, and lower running costs.
The extension is finished with a durable GRP (fibreglass) flat roof, designed for long-lasting weather protection and a clean, modern look. Two large triple-glazed skylights (1000 x 1500mm) bring in plenty of natural light, making the space feel brighter and more open throughout the day.
